Photo Friday: The Empire State Building

In March, it’s all about cities & culture here on Starry-Eyed Travels, so what better to pick for the Friday Photo than the most iconic building in the most exciting city on the planet?

Looking up at the Empire State Building from the pavement is one of those travel moments that I will never, ever forget. It was absolutely thrilling – the building is an awesome sight to behold.

The Empire State Building, NYC

  1. Katy, your picture makes me pause and ponder, “How many men, in the depth of a depression, stopped on this spot, looked up at the magnificence of the edifice, and vowed to construct something out of the ashes of their sadness?” I love how you used gray to convey the mute power of concrete; black, the silent testimony of windows. You are so good at this!

    • Thank you, this picture looked pretty ordinary in colour, but black and white just did something for it that I couldn’t! Glad it made you ponder πŸ™‚

  2. I LOVE this shot, dear Katy! The scope and depth and eeriness of black and white is just perfect. πŸ™‚ I would love to visit NYC one day, and one day I WILL! πŸ™‚ PS – I’ve been writing about our stroll through Salisbury for a couple of posts this week and it’s made me so happy but miss you dreadfully. πŸ™‚
