Friday Photo: Stars

When the #FriFotos theme for this week was announced over on Twitter, I got seriously excited. I mean, this is Starry-Eyed Travels, and the theme is STARS. Couldn’t be more perfect, really.

Except, as I flicked through my photos, from all my trips, I realised I didn’t really have any of stars.

I love photos of the cosmos, but they are tricky to take, requiring a long exposure, and it’s something I have not mastered yet. So, this week’s image is a somewhat creative interpretation on the theme.

Children playing football at night in Cusco, Peru

I loved watching these boys play football with an old plastic bottle, running between light and shadow – and the lights of the houses on the mountainside above twinkled like stars.

Now, please excuse me, I have to go and learn how to take long-exposure night pictures!

  1. Oh Katy!!! This is my most favoritest pic of yours yet. 🙂 Absolutely magical!! 🙂

  2. You know what, first look at the pictures tells me those are stars! Only when I read the whole post did I realise that those are lights in the mountain. Lol.

Long exposure photography is very tricky and takes a lot of time to master. Let me know how it goes! Oh and a little tip a want to share with you. Check out they share techniques on the long exposure shots!

    • Thank you for the advice, Diana!

  3. Wow, amazing photo, what are the twinkly lights in the background, they aren’t stars are they?

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment! No, sadly not! They were just lights from the houses on the hillside. It was a magical sight though!
