This little place is famous for its historic centre – a few streets of well-kept colonial buildings lining cobbled streets, upon which hallowed ground only the footfall of pedestrians and the click-clack of horses and carts is permitted.

A Lost Palace and Llamas

No, I’m not in Peru yet, I found both the ruins of a palace and llamas right here in Wiltshire, England!

I have something of an obsession with medieval history. Particularly the 12th and 13th centuries, the time of troubadours, crusades and courtly love. I had found out that somewhere, not far from my house in rural Wiltshire, there were the remains of the once-great Clarendon Palace. Built by William the Conqueror, it became an important residence of English Kings. Now, it appears as only a footnote in history (a stub on wikipedia!) and it is largely forgotten; just a few bits of stone somewhere in the English countryside.
